Science! The Brain Cognition Development Lab at UMass Needs Participants!

BCDLabYou there! Yes YOU! You look like the sort of enterprising person who possesses a brain of unimaginable cognitive potential! Why not donate some of your time to the study of the mind? And by “donate” we mean you’ll get between $10 and $15 per hour. We just wanted to make it sound less mercenary.

The Brain Cognition Development Lab at UMass Amherst needs participants for a multi-day study!

I don’t know how many people reading this are or were grad students but let us let you in on a little secret: multi-session experiments are super annoying to run! Scheduling is always a challenge! This is a chance for those of you who are reasonable people who know how to schedule things appropriately to help out a lab that’s doing excellent work.

Full disclosure: We actually participated in this study! It was a good time. The lab members are all pretty great, and very accommodating. We got little breakfast bars and juice boxes!

So, what do they need from you?

You need to be 18-35 years old.

You might participate from 20 – 30 hours total, depending on the length of your training.

And what do you get in return?

They will arrange times that work for you!

They will pay you $10-$15 per hour for participating in a series of training sessions lasting 1.5-3 hours each!

During some of the sessions they will record the electrical activity of your brain with electrical sensors that are held on your head with a device that is like a hair net. This hair net is soaked in saline solution before it is placed on your head, so your hair and face will get damp. The procedure is completely painless.
